South Kolkata's Maddox Square and Mudiali neighbourhoods are steeped in history and nostalgia, deeply connected to Bengali icons Durga Puja and Feluda. Maddox Square maintains traditional Durga Puja celebrations, remaining popular for its open atmosphere. Mudiali is famously known as the fictional home of detective Feluda, created by Satyajit Ray, who also lived in the area along with actor Soumitra Chatterjee. The neighbourhood also boasts the historic Menoka Cinema and proximity to Rabindra Sarobar.
