Kerala HC Mandates Transparency in Selection of Sabarimala and Malikappuram Melsanthis

The Kerala High Court has ordered transparency in the selection process for the new head priests, Melsanthis, at the Sabarimala Sree Dharma Sastha and Malikappuram temples. A retired High Court Judge, Justice V.G. Arun, has been appointed as the observer for the interview and drawing of lots process. A total of 48 applications were received for Sabarimala and 30 for Malikappuram, with five and three recommended for interviews respectively after a Vigilance inquiry. The appointed Melsanthis will serve a one-year tenure.

केरल हाईकोर्ट ने सबरीमाला श्री धर्म शास्त्र और मलिकप्पुरम मंदिरों में नए मुख्य पुजारियों, मेलसांथियों के चयन प्रक्रिया में पारदर्शिता का आदेश दिया है। एक सेवानिवृत्त हाईकोर्ट जज, जस्टिस वी.जी. अरुण को साक्षात्कार और लॉटरी प्रक्रिया के लिए पर्यवेक्षक नियुक्त किया गया है। सबरीमाला के लिए कुल 48 आवेदन और मलिकप्पुरम के लिए 30 आवेदन प्राप्त हुए थे, जिनमें से विजिलेंस जांच के बाद क्रमशः पांच और तीन को साक्षात्कार के लिए अनुशंसित किया गया था। नियुक्त मेलसांथी एक साल का कार्यकाल पूरा करेंगे।
