FSSAI Proposes Ban on Non-Dairy Paneer
Times of India · india
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has proposed new regulations to prevent products made with non-dairy ingredients from being marketed as 'paneer'. Under the draft rules, products registered as dairy analogues would have to discontinue using the term 'paneer' in their labelling and marketing. This move aims to prevent consumers from being misled about the composition of products they purchase. Restaurants and food businesses using paneer or cheese substitutes will also need to clearly disclose this information to consumers on menus and packaging.
