Bengal Govt Offers Rail Subsidy For Potato Exports

The West Bengal government will provide a subsidy of Rs 100 per quintal to encourage the movement of surplus potatoes out of the state via railways. This initiative aims to alleviate pressure on growers and traders facing difficulties due to subdued wholesale prices and excess stock. The subsidy will cover the transportation of up to 3 lakh tonnes of potatoes. This measure is particularly relevant for 12 key potato-growing districts within the state, which are experiencing a surplus compared to domestic demand.

पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार रेलगाड़ियों से अतिरिक्त आलू को राज्य से बाहर भेजने को बढ़ावा देने के लिए प्रति क्विंटल 100 रुपये की सब्सिडी देगी। इस पहल का मकसद थोक कीमतों में गिरावट और अतिरिक्त स्टॉक के कारण मुश्किलों का सामना कर रहे किसानों और व्यापारियों पर दबाव कम करना है। यह सब्सिडी 3 लाख टन तक आलू के परिवहन पर लागू होगी। यह उपाय राज्य के 12 प्रमुख आलू उत्पादक जिलों के लिए विशेष रूप से प्रासंगिक है, जहाँ घरेलू मांग की तुलना में अधिक उत्पादन हो रहा है।
