Bank Profits Face Pressure From Rising Bond Yields In Q2
Economic Times Markets · stocks
Indian banks are projected to see an 11.5% year-on-year increase in net interest income for the September quarter, though profit growth will be slower at around 10% due to pressure on treasury income from hardened bond yields. Strong capital inflows through the RBI's FCNR-B deposit swap scheme, exceeding $127 billion, are expected to support deposit growth. However, these inflows may impact the CASA ratio and net interest margins in the short term. Loan growth accelerated to 19.1% year-on-year, while deposit growth reached 15.8%.
