Delhi Records First Poor Air Quality Reading of Season

Hindustan Times · environment

Delhi recorded its first 'poor' air quality reading of the season on Wednesday morning, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 227. The deterioration occurred overnight, following Dussehra celebrations involving firecrackers and effigy burning, which added to existing emissions. This dip also coincides with reports of farm fires in neighbouring Punjab and Haryana. Falling temperatures and changing wind speeds are further contributing to pollutant accumulation in the atmosphere, impacting air quality across the city.
