European Grocery Stores Face Fridge-Freezer Hacks, Ruining Food
CBS News · world
Grocery chains across at least three European countries reported significant temperature spikes in refrigerators and freezers, leading to spoiled food. This marks the second such incident in less than a month, raising concerns about cyberattacks on interconnected infrastructure. Retailers like Ahold Delhaize in the Netherlands and Colruyt in Belgium, along with Swedish chains ICA and Coop, experienced soaring temperatures. One Swedish store explicitly blamed a cyberattack, stating temperatures reached 122 degrees Fahrenheit, highlighting a growing vulnerability in retail systems.
