Gujarat HC Upholds Land Allotment to Reliance For Jamnagar SEZ

The Gujarat High Court has upheld the land allotment of nearly nine acres to Reliance Industries Ltd for its special economic zone in Jamnagar. The court quashed a state revenue department order that had revived a decades-old re-grant claim for the land. The dispute concerned nine acres and seven gunthas of land originally allotted for cultivation in 1962, which was later cancelled due to breached conditions. Reliance was allotted the land in April 2008 for a petroleum and petrochemical SEZ.

गुजरात हाई कोर्ट ने जामनगर में अपने विशेष आर्थिक क्षेत्र (SEZ) के लिए रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज लिमिटेड को लगभग नौ एकड़ जमीन के आवंटन को बरकरार रखा है। अदालत ने राज्य के राजस्व विभाग के उस आदेश को रद्द कर दिया जिसने जमीन के लिए दशकों पुराने पुनः अनुदान दावे को पुनर्जीवित किया था। विवाद नौ एकड़ और सात गुंठा जमीन से संबंधित था जो मूल रूप से 1962 में खेती के लिए आवंटित की गई थी, जिसे बाद में शर्तों के उल्लंघन के कारण रद्द कर दिया गया था। रिलायंस को अप्रैल 2008 में पेट्रोलियम और पेट्रोकेमिकल SEZ के लिए जमीन आवंटित की गई थी।
