A dispute arose in Ujjain over the removal of an 11-foot section of the Shahi Masjid for road widening as part of the Simhastha 2028 development works. While the mosque committee and city qazi had previously agreed to the demolition, some individuals took to the streets morning, initiating stone-pelting. Police responded by firing tear gas shells to control the situation. The administration stated that the tension was fueled by misleading information spread on social media, falsely claiming the entire mosque was being demolished.
