Flydubai Hijacker Inspired By 9/11 Attacks, UAE Probe Reveals

A preliminary investigation by the UAE has revealed that the co-pilot of a Flydubai flight, Hamam al-Hammami, was inspired by the 9/11 terror attacks to become a pilot. The 29-year-old allegedly planned to hijack the Dubai to Tel Aviv flight on September 30 and crash it into Ben Gurion Airport's passenger terminal. Al-Hammami confessed that the idea of a similar operation became firmly established in his mind, influencing his career choice. The investigation also found he had visited the airport twice before to familiarise himself with the route and location.
