Zuckerberg Urged Meta to Learn From Apple, Google

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg advised Meta executives in a 2021 email to study rivals like Apple and Google. He questioned if Meta's extensive internal safety research backfired, suggesting competitors faced less public scrutiny by doing less. Zuckerberg highlighted Apple's minimal content moderation and lack of user reporting in iMessage as a successful strategy. He noted that YouTube also deliberately avoids public criticism, while Twitter and Snap might be limited by smaller budgets.
