Cabinet Secretary Copied CEC on ECs' Letters: RTI Reply Reveals

A Right to Information response has revealed that the Cabinet Secretary's office acknowledged letters from two Election Commissioners (ECs) S.S. Sandhu and Vivek Joshi to Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan. The acknowledgment was copied to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar for his information. The Cabinet Secretariat noted the letters were from ECs in their individual capacity and not formal ECI communication. This action was taken regarding the working of Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Maneesh Garg, concerning work allocation orders issued without commission approval.

एक सूचना के अधिकार (RTI) जवाब से पता चला है कि कैबिनेट सचिव के कार्यालय ने दो चुनाव आयुक्तों (ECs) एस.एस. संधू और विवेक जोशी के कैबिनेट सचिव टी.वी. सोमनाथन को लिखे पत्रों को स्वीकार किया है। यह स्वीकारोक्ति मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त (CEC) ज्ञानेश कुमार को उनकी जानकारी के लिए भेजी गई थी। कैबिनेट सचिवालय ने नोट किया कि ये पत्र चुनाव आयुक्तों की व्यक्तिगत क्षमता में थे, न कि ECI का औपचारिक संचार। यह कार्रवाई वरिष्ठ उप चुनाव आयुक्त मनीष गर्ग के काम को लेकर की गई थी, जिनके कार्य आवंटन आदेशों को आयोग की मंजूरी के बिना जारी किया गया था।
