Norwegians Fall For Wild Investment Scam, Losing Gold Left in Forests
Hindustan Times · world
Norwegian banking lobby Finans Norge has warned of a growing investment fraud where swindlers convince people to buy gold and leave it in forests for safekeeping. Clients have purchased gold, only for it to be stolen after being left in nature, based on promises of rising value. This is one of three fraud methods banks are currently highlighting. Last year, Norwegian banks and customers lost 962 million kroner ($100 million) to financial fraud, though they prevented over 3.5 billion kroner in attempted scams.
