Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan reviewed the draft Keralam State Elderly Persons (Care and Protection) Bill 2026 on Tuesday. The proposed legislation aims to ensure the care, welfare, dignity, and rights of the elderly in the state. It seeks to create an elderly-friendly system promoting active ageing and facilitating home-based care. The bill also focuses on professionalizing the caregiving sector through training and certification, and developing the silver economy.

केरल के मुख्यमंत्री वी.डी. सतीशसन ने मंगलवार को केरल राज्य वृद्धजन (देखभाल और संरक्षण) विधेयक 2026 का मसौदा देखा। इस प्रस्तावित कानून का मकसद राज्य में बुजुर्गों की देखभाल, कल्याण, गरिमा और अधिकारों को सुनिश्चित करना है। यह सक्रिय बुढ़ापे को बढ़ावा देने और घर-आधारित देखभाल को आसान बनाने वाली एक वृद्ध-अनुकूल प्रणाली बनाना चाहता है। विधेयक प्रशिक्षण और प्रमाणन के माध्यम से देखभाल क्षेत्र को पेशेवर बनाने और सिल्वर इकोनॉमी विकसित करने पर भी केंद्रित है।
