Interest in Gandhian Studies Declines in Karnataka Universities Due to Low Enrollment

The Hindu · india

Academic activities at Bangalore University's Centre for Gandhian Studies have ceased due to a lack of student interest and funding issues, leading to the discontinuation of diploma and certificate courses. Similar trends are observed in other state-run universities, with Karnatak University's Department of Gandhian Studies seeing a significant drop in student admissions. Rising fees and a perceived disconnect between Gandhian principles and modern practice are cited as reasons for the dwindling interest. Efforts are underway to revive interest by introducing new diploma courses focused on contemporary leadership.
