Environmental groups in Keralam have questioned the expertise of members appointed to a new seven-member State-level Advisory Committee on human-wildlife conflict mitigation. Critics argue the panel lacks representation from affected Adivasi communities, traditional farmers, conservationists, scientists, and experienced NGOs. Instead, it includes a hospitality professional and a horticulture entrepreneur. Environmentalists fear the committee's composition, which they deem a 'farce,' will not yield meaningful recommendations and may even worsen tensions. Some members have reportedly shown hostility towards forests and wildlife.
