An inquiry panel investigating the suicide of a 31-year-old MSc Physics student at IIT Delhi has received a second extension, with its report now due on October 10. The committee, initially tasked with submitting findings by September 30, faced delays due to the re-recording of student statements. The student died by suicide on August 23, prompting protests demanding an independent inquiry into alleged institutional lapses. The panel, reconstituted with retired Delhi High Court judge Mukta Gupta as chairperson, has had its deadline extended twice.

आईआईटी दिल्ली में 31 वर्षीय एमएससी फिजिक्स के छात्र की आत्महत्या की जांच कर रहे पैनल को दूसरी बार मोहलत मिली है, अब इसकी रिपोर्ट 10 अक्टूबर तक आएगी। समिति, जिसे शुरू में 30 सितंबर तक रिपोर्ट देनी थी, छात्र के बयानों को फिर से रिकॉर्ड करने के कारण देरी का सामना करना पड़ा। छात्र की 23 अगस्त को आत्महत्या के बाद संस्थागत चूक के आरोपों की स्वतंत्र जांच की मांग को लेकर विरोध प्रदर्शन हुए थे। सेवानिवृत्त दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय की न्यायाधीश मुक्ता गुप्ता को अध्यक्ष के रूप में पुनर्गठित पैनल की समय सीमा दो बार बढ़ाई गई है।
