Coimbatore Student Dies By Suicide; Family Alleges Caste, Beef Harassment

A Class 11 student in Coimbatore, belonging to a Scheduled Caste community, died by suicide on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. His family alleges that harassment by a teacher and classmates over his caste and beef consumption led to the tragedy. The Peelamedu police have booked two classmates, teacher Vijayakumar, and principal Arunkumar for abetting suicide. Teacher Vijayakumar was arrested on Thursday, October 22. The student's mother stated that the teacher had previously questioned students about consuming beef, and two classmates had been harassing him since then.

कोयंबटूर में 11वीं कक्षा के एक छात्र, जो अनुसूचित जाति समुदाय से था, ने बुधवार, 21 अक्टूबर 2026 को आत्महत्या कर ली। उसके परिवार का आरोप है कि एक शिक्षक और सहपाठियों द्वारा उसकी जाति और बीफ खाने को लेकर उत्पीड़न किए जाने से यह दुखद घटना हुई। पीलमेडू पुलिस ने आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाने के आरोप में दो सहपाठियों, शिक्षक विजयकुमार और प्रधानाध्यापक अरुणकुमार के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज किया है। शिक्षक विजयकुमार को गुरुवार, 22 अक्टूबर को गिरफ्तार किया गया था। छात्र की माँ ने बताया कि शिक्षक ने पहले छात्रों से बीफ खाने के बारे में पूछताछ की थी, और तब से दो सहपाठी उसे परेशान कर रहे थे।
