Protesters opposing the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant marked 2,000 days of their agitation on Sunday. JAC leaders stated that workers and the public are ready for further struggles to protect the plant. The protests began on April 2, 2021, and continued through the COVID-19 pandemic. Leaders demanded captive mines, merger with SAIL, and reinstatement of contract workers, alleging thousands lost jobs and a significant financial package was misused.
