Netherlands Seeks to Learn from India's Digital Tools for Farmer Support

The Netherlands Minister for Food Security, Fisheries and Horticulture, Silvio Erkens, expressed interest in India's use of digital tools like smartphones, software, and AI to enhance farmer productivity. Erkens stated that India's experience with supporting numerous smallholder farmers through technology is valuable for the Netherlands. He was in Bengaluru with a delegation to explore collaborations in horticulture, seed technology, water management, and sustainable food production. Erkens highlighted water management and developing climate-resilient seeds as key areas for partnership, aiming to increase farmer income and yields in both nations.
