Metbah Lyngdoh has resigned as a minister in Meghalaya after his United Democratic Party (UDP) was reduced to a single legislator. This political upheaval follows the defection of 11 out of the UDP's 12 MLAs, with eight joining the BJP and three moving to the NPP. Paul Lyngdoh, who left the UDP for the NPP, has been sworn in as a cabinet minister representing the NPP. He has been allocated the tourism portfolio, which he previously held. The UDP's significant legislative presence has been virtually wiped out.
