The Supreme Court registry has submitted a report explaining the clubbing of two petitions concerning IPS officer deputation to CAPFs. One petition sought contempt proceedings for violating a previous SC judgment, while the other challenged a new law permitting such deputations. The cases were listed before a special bench after the Additional Solicitor General requested they be heard together. Registry sources stated the CJI consulted the presiding judges before forming the special bench. The bench accepted the registry's explanation and posted both matters for hearing.
