US Envoy Meets Putin, Hopes Ukraine Included in Talks

U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, expressing hope for Ukraine's inclusion in future talks. Russian officials stated that progress toward a resolution is theoretically possible but requires Ukraine's leaders to make necessary decisions. During the meeting, both leaders confirmed the release of American citizen Stephen Hubbard, who had been jailed for over four years. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, however, insisted on direct trilateral talks and rejected resolutions crafted without Ukrainian participation, emphasizing that any agreement must be approved by his parliament.
