RBI Swap Scheme Attracts $20.72 Billion

The Reserve Bank of India's special swap facility has attracted $20.72 billion by July 17. The majority of these funds came through Foreign Currency Non-Resident deposits, with Overseas Foreign Currency Borrowings and External Commercial Borrowings also contributing. Launched to bolster India's balance of payments and encourage capital inflows, banks expect a significant increase in FCNR(B) deposits before the September deadline.

भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक की स्पेशल स्वैप सुविधा से 17 जुलाई तक 20.72 अरब डॉलर आए हैं। ज़्यादातर पैसा फॉरेन करेंसी नॉन-रेज़िडेंट (FCNR) डिपॉजिट से आया, साथ ही ओवरसीज़ फॉरेन करेंसी बोरिंग्स और एक्सटर्नल कमर्शियल बोरिंग्स का भी योगदान रहा। यह भारत के भुगतान संतुलन को मजबूत करने और पूंजी प्रवाह को बढ़ावा देने के लिए शुरू किया गया था। बैंकों को उम्मीद है कि सितंबर की डेडलाइन से पहले FCNR(B) डिपॉजिट में काफी बढ़ोतरी होगी।
