BJP has targeted the Congress party's top leadership over their silence on Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar's bravery. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi questioned why Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Sonia Gandhi had not publicly praised Captain Machchhar, who saved 180 lives on a flight. The BJP framed this as a battle between nationalism and appeasement politics, contrasting Congress's silence on the Indian pilot with their statements on other issues.
