शंघाई में हुई वर्ल्डस्किल्स प्रतियोगिता में चीन ने रिकॉर्ड 41 गोल्ड मेडल जीते, जो दूसरे नंबर पर रहे दक्षिण कोरिया से दस गुना ज़्यादा थे। छह दिन तक चली इस प्रतियोगिता में 60 देशों के 1,400 युवा प्रतिभागियों ने ब्रिकलेइंग और मशीनिंग जैसे वोकेशनल स्किल्स का प्रदर्शन किया। चीन 2011 से इस प्रतियोगिता में भारी निवेश कर रहा है, और एक सिंगल सिल्वर मेडल विजेता से एक डोमिनेंट फोर्स बन गया है। सरकार 'लुबान वर्कशॉप्स' जैसी पहलों के ज़रिए राष्ट्रीय गौरव बढ़ाने और सॉफ्ट पावर प्रोजेक्ट करने के लक्ष्य से व्यापक प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रमों के माध्यम से प्रतिभागियों का समर्थन करती है।
