MLA Shiyas has alleged that Lionel Messi's visit to Kochi was a fabricated event used to launder black money. He claims the deal was conducted secretly, without the knowledge of the All India Football Federation or the Kerala Football Association. Shiyas is seeking scrutiny of the financial dealings of the then Sports Minister, V. Abdurahiman, in relation to this alleged clandestine operation.

विधायक शियास ने आरोप लगाया है कि लियोनेल मेसी का कोच्चि दौरा काला धन को सफेद करने के लिए रचा गया एक दिखावा था। उनका कहना है कि यह सौदा ऑल इंडिया फुटबॉल फेडरेशन और केरल फुटबॉल एसोसिएशन की जानकारी के बिना गुप्त रूप से किया गया था। शियास उस समय के खेल मंत्री वी. अब्दुरहमान के वित्तीय लेन-देन की जांच की मांग कर रहे हैं।
