Patna Man Gets 2 Years Jail For Instant Triple Talaq

A Patna court has sentenced Naushad Ahmed to two years of rigorous imprisonment for pronouncing instant triple talaq on his wife, violating the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 6,500, with an additional sentence for non-payment. Ahmed was, however, acquitted of charges related to an acid attack attempt on his wife. This marks the first such conviction in Patna district, with the accused planning to challenge the verdict.
