Supreme Court Halts Coercive Action Against Punjab Govt Officials

The Supreme Court has directed that no coercive action be taken against individuals linked to the Punjab government by the CBI. This order came in response to the Punjab government's plea to stay a High Court directive for the CBI to probe corruption allegations. The High Court had ordered the CBI to investigate allegations of cash for transfers and favourable policies. The Supreme Court issued notices to the Centre, CBI, and ED, clarifying that the FIR is not stayed but coercive steps are halted.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सीबीआई द्वारा पंजाब सरकार से जुड़े व्यक्तियों के खिलाफ कोई भी कठोर कार्रवाई न करने का निर्देश दिया है। यह आदेश पंजाब सरकार की उस याचिका के जवाब में आया है जिसमें सीबीआई को भ्रष्टाचार के आरोपों की जांच करने के हाई कोर्ट के निर्देश पर रोक लगाने की मांग की गई थी। हाई कोर्ट ने तबादलों के लिए पैसे लेने और पक्षपातपूर्ण नीतियों के आरोपों की सीबीआई से जांच कराने का आदेश दिया था। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने केंद्र, सीबीआई और ईडी को नोटिस जारी किया और स्पष्ट किया कि एफआईआर पर रोक नहीं है, लेकिन कठोर कदम उठाए जाने पर रोक लगा दी गई है।
