Keralam Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has directed the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to examine a fresh bribery allegation against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The allegation, made by a former contractor, claims Kumar demanded ₹2 crore for releasing payments for road construction work under the KSTP nearly two decades ago. The contractor alleged that Kumar deliberately withheld approved cheques, causing financial hardship and contributing to the project engineer's suicide in 2006. This investigation follows protests against the CEC regarding electoral roll revisions.
