Indian Railways is set to introduce a 'door-to-door' parcel service in eight major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. Customers can book 'doorstep pickup' and 'delivery' for parcels via the 'Rail Parcel App - Ghar Se Ghar Tak'. Logistics partners will handle the first and last-mile operations, while the railways manage inter-station transit. This initiative aims to expand railway services, offering convenience by eliminating the need for customers to visit stations or handle extensive paperwork. Bookings can be made up to 15 days before train departure.
