The Kansas City Current has launched a free youth soccer league in Kansas City's Northeast neighborhood, aiming to remove financial barriers for aspiring young players. The initiative, which began on July 11, provides around 120 children aged 8 to 10 with free uniforms, cleats, and equipment. This program offers more than just a place to play; it fosters family connections, athlete development, and community engagement with the sport. The league runs until August 29, with plans to support coaches and referees and potentially offer referee certification pathways for teenagers.
