Two 17-year-old college students in Thane allegedly murdered their childhood friend, also 17, to steal his gold chain. The motive was to fund a birthday party and purchase a motorcycle. The accused meticulously planned the murder, drawing inspiration from films and online content, and attempted to mislead the police with false information. They were apprehended on Thursday and sent to a juvenile remand home after the victim's body was recovered. Police are now tracing the buyer of the stolen chain and the victim's phone.
