Haryana Fails to Install ANPR Cameras; CAQM Summons Officials
Times of India · environment
Haryana's transport department has failed to install automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera systems at 2,780 fuel stations in NCR districts by the deadline. CAQM has summoned the department's secretary-in-charge and transport commissioner to explain the delay. The ANPR system is crucial for identifying vehicles without valid pollution certificates, a measure mandated by CAQM to improve air quality. Non-compliance could lead to legal action, including imprisonment and fines, as per the CAQM Act, 2021.
