A Muslim youth was allegedly assaulted and removed from a Navratri garba event in Nalasopara East, organised by BJP corporator Jayprakash Singh, after he wiped off a tilak applied to his forehead. The incident, captured on video, sparked controversy, with organisers initially stating the tilak was to prevent 'love jihad'. Following the backlash, Singh distanced his organisation from the practice, claiming members of Hindutva groups were responsible. He has since requested police to bar such groups from the event.
