Ernakulam Medical College Terminates 29 Contract Staff Over Age Limit
The Hindu · india
The Directorate of Medical Education has terminated the services of 29 contract employees at Ernakulam Government Medical College, aged 60 and above, effective November 1. These employees, including nursing assistants and pharmacists, have worked since the state took over the college in 2013. They allege unfair treatment and termination without proper notice, impacting their morale and the hospital's functioning. While the college cites age eligibility, employees question the benefits and timing of the decision, fearing it could affect hospital operations and raise privatisation concerns.
