Kasimedu Fishermen Announce Indefinite Strike Over Boats Held Captive in Andhra Pradesh

Fishermen from Kasimedu fishing harbour are set to begin an indefinite strike to protest the detention of seven boats in Andhra Pradesh for over 100 days. The decision was made by boat owners, vendors, and other stakeholders after a meeting, demanding government intervention to retrieve the vessels. Community leaders highlighted the lack of financial assistance for single boat owners and urged the Tamil Nadu government to seek central intervention. They also suggested halting fish sales from Andhra Pradesh in local markets as a countermeasure.
