Indian Stock Market Crashes Over 700 Points; Rs 7 Lakh Crore Wiped Out

The Indian stock market experienced a significant downturn on Thursday, with the Sensex plummeting over 700 points and Nifty falling below 22,400. This sharp decline resulted in a market capitalization wipeout of nearly Rs 7 lakh crore. Key factors contributing to investor spooking include the RBI's policy tightening stance, persistent FII selling, and soaring global bond yields. Additionally, rising oil prices above $102 per barrel amid Middle East tensions added to market concerns. Broader markets and specific sectors like Metal and Realty also saw substantial losses.
