AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Alleges SIR Used as Backdoor for NRC Implementation

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi alleged on Thursday that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is being used as a backdoor for implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC). He stated that voters are being deprived of their franchise on nominal grounds. Owaisi mentioned that AIMIM has opposed SIR since its implementation and has approached courts against the exercise. He also indicated that several political parties, including the CJP and INDIA bloc, are expected to join a protest against SIR.

चीफ असदुद्दीन ओवैसी ने गुरुवार को आरोप लगाया कि स्पेशल इंटेंसिव रिवीजन (SIR) का इस्तेमाल नेशनल रजिस्टर ऑफ सिटिजन्स (NRC) को लागू करने के लिए एक पिछले दरवाजे के तौर पर किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि मामूली आधारों पर मतदाताओं को उनके मताधिकार से वंचित किया जा रहा है। ओवैसी ने बताया कि AIMIM ने SIR लागू होने के बाद से इसका विरोध किया है और इस कवायद के खिलाफ अदालतों का दरवाजा खटखटाया है। उन्होंने यह भी संकेत दिया कि CJP और INDIA ब्लॉक सहित कई राजनीतिक दलों के SIR के खिलाफ विरोध प्रदर्शन में शामिल होने की उम्मीद है।
