AI Developers Must Lead On Safety: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that AI regulation requires both legal and technical safeguards, with companies developing the technology needing to take the lead on safety. He noted that governments have historically regulated disruptive technologies like automobiles and nuclear power. Vaishnaw emphasized that AI model developers understand the inherent problems and must be integral to the regulatory process, addressing crucial questions about liability for AI agent actions.

केंद्रीय मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने कहा कि AI को रेगुलेट करने के लिए कानूनी और तकनीकी दोनों तरह की सुरक्षा ज़रूरी है। उन्होंने कहा कि AI बनाने वाली कंपनियों को सुरक्षा को प्राथमिकता देनी होगी। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि सरकारें पहले भी ऑटोमोबाइल और परमाणु ऊर्जा जैसी नई तकनीकों को रेगुलेट करती आई हैं। वैष्णव ने ज़ोर देकर कहा कि AI मॉडल बनाने वाले ही इसके जोखिमों को समझते हैं और रेगुलेशन प्रक्रिया में उनकी भागीदारी ज़रूरी है, खासकर AI के कामों की ज़िम्मेदारी तय करने में।
