AI coding, known as vibe coding, has become expensive due to iterative loops that increase costs. Developers describe their needs, and the AI generates code, tests, and iterates based on errors. Each loop consumes tokens, and the accumulated context further inflates bills. Amazon's Kiro tool offers a spec-driven development approach, requiring a detailed written specification upfront. This method, according to Amazon's Darko Mesaros, reduces rework and allows for 'one-shot' code generation, significantly cutting down on token usage and overall expenses.
