Consumer Panel Orders Insurer to Pay ₹12 Lakh For Truck Stolen in 2016

A district consumer commission has directed United India Insurance Company Ltd to pay Rs 12 lakh to a Greater Noida resident for his truck stolen in March 2016. The commission also ordered the insurer to pay 6% annual simple interest from the complaint filing date and Rs 5,000 in litigation costs, with compliance required within 30 days. The insurer's rejection of the claim due to delayed intimation was deemed unjustified, as the theft was promptly reported to the police.

एक जिला उपभोक्ता आयोग ने यूनाइटेड इंडिया इंश्योरेंस कंपनी लिमिटेड को ग्रेटर नोएडा के एक निवासी को मार्च 2016 में चोरी हुए उसके ट्रक के लिए 12 लाख रुपये का भुगतान करने का निर्देश दिया है। आयोग ने बीमा कंपनी को शिकायत दर्ज करने की तारीख से 6% वार्षिक साधारण ब्याज और 5,000 रुपये मुकदमेबाजी खर्च का भुगतान करने का भी आदेश दिया है, जिसका अनुपालन 30 दिनों के भीतर आवश्यक है। बीमा कंपनी द्वारा देरी से सूचना देने के कारण दावे को अस्वीकार करना अनुचित माना गया, क्योंकि चोरी की सूचना तुरंत पुलिस को दी गई थी।
