INDIA Bloc MPs Detained After Protest March To Election Commission

Opposition INDIA bloc MPs marched towards the Election Commission headquarters in New Delhi to protest the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner. Police stopped the marchers, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, midway, leading to a dharna on the road. Despite pleas to vacate, the MPs occupied Akashvani Bhavan premises for hours before being detained by police late in the evening. Congress sources claimed the government offered to let a smaller group meet the CEC, but the alliance insisted on a larger delegation.

नई दिल्ली में चुनाव आयोग के मुख्यालय की ओर विरोध प्रदर्शन करने जा रहे विपक्ष के INDIA गठबंधन के सांसदों को पुलिस ने बीच रास्ते में ही रोक लिया। राहुल गांधी और मल्लिकार्जुन खरगे समेत कई सांसद सड़क पर धरने पर बैठ गए। घंटों तक मनाने के बाद भी जब वे नहीं हटे तो पुलिस ने उन्हें देर शाम हिरासत में ले लिया। कांग्रेस का कहना है कि सरकार ने छोटे समूह को चुनाव आयुक्त से मिलने की पेशकश की थी, लेकिन गठबंधन एक बड़े प्रतिनिधिमंडल पर अड़ा रहा।
