Kochi Corporation Restricts Biomedical Waste Subsidy

Kochi Corporation will soon restrict its subsidy on biomedical waste collection to select eligible categories, moving away from its current universal subsidy system. Starting later this month, most will pay ₹20 plus GST per kilogram, with the subsidised rate reduced to ₹12. Commercial establishments will be charged ₹45 per kilogram. This change aims to manage costs, as the Corporation previously paid ₹38 per kilogram for treatment.

कोच्चि कॉर्पोरेशन अब बायोमेडिकल कचरा कलेक्शन पर अपनी सब्सिडी कुछ चुनिंदा लोगों को ही देगा। अभी तक सबको सब्सिडी मिलती थी, लेकिन अब यह बदलने वाला है। इस महीने के अंत से, ज़्यादातर लोगों को प्रति किलो ₹20 + GST देना होगा, जबकि सब्सिडी वाला रेट ₹12 रहेगा। बड़े बिज़नेस वालों से प्रति किलो ₹45 लिए जाएंगे। कॉर्पोरेशन का कहना है कि इससे खर्चों को संभालने में मदद मिलेगी, क्योंकि पहले वे इलाज के लिए प्रति किलो ₹38 देते थे।
