Nearly 20% of Registered Factories Remained Inoperative Between FY16 and FY25

Data reveals that nearly one in five registered factories in India were non-operational between the financial years 2015-16 and 2024-25. In FY25 specifically, 18.13 per cent of factories reported no activity. While the total number of registered factories grew by 14.5 per cent during this period, and recent years saw a slight uptick in factory growth, this does not automatically translate to increased industrial capacity.
