Afghan Returnees Face Raids, Detention in Pakistan's KP Post-Emergency
Times of India · world
Afghan nationals recently deported from Pakistan are reporting increased arbitrary detentions, midnight raids, and financial extortion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This follows the imposition of a state of emergency and governor's rule in the province. Returnees describe frequent police searches, restricted movement, and alleged bribery demands for release. Many fear leaving their homes due to the crackdown. Nearly 27,000 Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan via the Torkham border in the past three months, with resettlement efforts underway.
