Scientists Trace Oregon's Underground River Styx With Fluorescent Dyes

Times of India · science

Scientists have successfully traced the path of Oregon's underground River Styx using fluorescent dyes, revealing new insights into its hidden water pathways. The study, conducted between 2021 and 2024, identified connections between the subterranean river and surface streams in the Cave Creek watershed. Researchers discovered three previously unknown springs and seeps where the river's water resurfaces below the cave. These findings are crucial for understanding groundwater movement and protecting the cave ecosystem and downstream water resources.
