India Caps Cancer Drug Trade Margins, Prices May Fall Up To 70%

India's drug pricing regulator, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), has capped trade margins at 30% on 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer drug formulations. This move, effective November 9, is expected to reduce retail prices by up to 70%, making cancer medicines more affordable. The NPPA implemented this Trade Margin Rationalisation mechanism to curb excessive margins across the supply chain. Pharmaceutical companies and hospitals must now implement and display the revised prices, with consumers able to check them via the NPPA website or a mobile app.
