Supreme Court Hearing on Delhi Protest Crackdown Adjourned Due to Judge's Illness

The Supreme Court has postponed a hearing on petitions challenging the crackdown on Delhi protesters until Thursday, October 15. The adjournment was granted because a judge on the bench was unwell. The court also gave Delhi Police and other authorities until Wednesday evening to respond to contempt notices regarding alleged disobedience of previous orders. The petitions concern detentions, assault of protesters, and restrictions on public transport ahead of a demonstration. The bench previously directed that peaceful protesters should not be detained unlawfully and ordered normal operation of transport services.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने दिल्ली के प्रदर्शनकारियों पर कार्रवाई को चुनौती देने वाली याचिकाओं पर सुनवाई गुरुवार, 15 अक्टूबर तक के लिए टाल दी है। बेंच के एक जज की तबीयत ठीक न होने के कारण यह स्थगन दिया गया। अदालत ने दिल्ली पुलिस और अन्य अधिकारियों को बुधवार शाम तक अवमानना नोटिसों का जवाब देने का भी समय दिया है, जो पिछले आदेशों की कथित अवज्ञा के संबंध में थे। ये याचिकाएं प्रदर्शन से पहले हिरासत में लिए जाने, प्रदर्शनकारियों पर हमले और सार्वजनिक परिवहन पर प्रतिबंधों से संबंधित हैं। बेंच ने पहले निर्देश दिया था कि शांतिपूर्ण प्रदर्शनकारियों को अवैध रूप से हिरासत में न लिया जाए और परिवहन सेवाओं के सामान्य संचालन का आदेश दिया था।
