Supreme Court: Cops' Probe Domain, Courts Must Not

The Supreme Court has stated that crime investigation is the exclusive domain of the police and should be left to the investigating agency's discretion. Courts should not interfere to decide when a probe should stop. The apex court quashed a Bombay High Court order that refused an extension for filing a chargesheet against a Popular Front of India member, leading to default bail.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा है कि अपराध की जांच सिर्फ पुलिस का काम है और इसे जांच एजेंसी पर ही छोड़ देना चाहिए। कोर्ट को यह तय नहीं करना चाहिए कि जांच कब रुके। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट के एक फैसले को रद्द कर दिया, जिसमें पॉपुलर फ्रंट ऑफ इंडिया के एक सदस्य के खिलाफ चार्जशीट दाखिल करने की मोहलत देने से इनकार कर दिया गया था, जिससे उसे डिफ़ॉल्ट जमानत मिल गई थी।
